Planning Engineer
Location – Athurugiriya, Colombo
Experience required: 3+ years
Job responsibilities:
1. Create and maintain project schedules using industry-standard planning software.
2. Use tools like gantt charts and critical path analysis to track project timelines and ensure timely completion.
3. Identify and allocate resources (labor, materials, equipment) to optimize project performance.
4. Monitor project progress, identify deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
5. Prepare regular status reports on timelines, costs, and resource utilization for stakeholders.
6. Review project documentation, track schedule variances, and adjust plans as needed.
7. Evaluate potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate their impact on project timelines and costs.
8. Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
9. Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations.
10. Analyze project outcomes to identify areas for improvement in future projects.
Required qualifications:
1. Degree in project management or a diploma from a recognized institute in a related field.
2. 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience in project planning, scheduling, or management.
3. Proficiency in project planning tools such as primavera p6, ms project, or similar software.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
6. Familiarity with construction industry standards, regulations, and best practices in project management.
7. Professional certifications such as pmp (project management professional) or capm (certified associate in project management) are advantageous.
